I love my football.
Cardiff University ran a midweek student league called the IMG league that held 32 teams.
45 teams applied for the league which obviously left a surplus of guys keen to play football.
I then created the End of the World League.
I flyered the campus, got featured in the local press and finally organised a meet up with all the team captains.
In its first season the league ran with just 4 teams. Next season we had 8 teams, the season after we had 12.
In some weather-hit seasons even managed to play more games than the midweek University league.
I organised the league completely through (the newly launched) Facebook, which provided the perfect forum for post-game banter, debates and insults.
The league ran for four seasons before I left Cardiff for drier pastures in London. Although the league stopped, Cardiff Crusaders – the team I set up, continues to play today.

Why End of the World League? I came up with the idea on the way to the pub to watch football. I left the pub with End of the World Leaguewritten on my hand. I don’t remember how it got there, but it certainly had a great ring to it.
